Fujitsu Spotlights Wireless Mesh Network, Mesh Sensor Technology at Sensors Converge 2022 (Americas)

SAN JOSE, Calif. – June 3, 2022 – Fujitsu Components America will showcase a Mesh Sensor and Mesh Network technology, an IoT solution evaluation kit, and more in Booth #1127 at the Sensors Converge conference and exhibition, slated for San Jose’s McEnery Convention Center from June 27 to June 29.

Live demonstrations will encompass:

• Mesh Sensor with real-time locating system (RTLS) capability using Fujitsu’s Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz products

  The system leverages a combination of Fujitsu’s Endurance Line of mesh network and multi-sensor units, which offer built-in Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz network connectivity, small size mesh sensor tags, and a USB dongle formfactor Sink node for a gateway. All nodes in the Wirepas product family facilitate dense, large-scale network installations to address a wide range of industrial monitoring IoT applications—including RTLS applications—in offices, factories, warehouses, hospitals, schools, and other environments.

• Updating data via the Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz network

  During this demonstration, sensor data will be updated through the Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz network along with RTLS supporting data. Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz network connectivity will be provided by a single, versatile network that can accommodate each application’s unique data, direction, power consumption, and latencies as well as other factors. No separate network is required.

Product displays will highlight:

• IoT Connectivity Solution Evaluation Kit

  This kit enables end-users to easily test and evaluate IoT-based asset tracking and environmental monitoring solutions—at low cost and with maximum flexibility. It contains five Fujitsu sensor nodes with onboard temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, accelerometer, luminance, and sound level sensors; five Fujitsu mesh nodes set as asset tags; 20 Fujitsu mesh nodes set as Wirepas anchor nodes for location awareness; one Wi-Fi gateway embedded with two Wirepas sink nodes to connect the mesh network to a cloud service; and one user’s manual. Also included is a complimentary three-month full-function software evaluation license which gives customers access to the Wirepas Network Tool, the Wirepas Positioning Engine, and a web-based sample dashboard application. The kit is equipped with all the necessary settings and cloud setup, ensuring easy installation and functionality right out of the box.

• Mesh Radio Module

  Similar to a Bluetooth BLE radio module, Fujitsu’s Mesh Module can be integrated into customers’ hardware, allowing them to easily adopt mesh networking capability. The module accepts Wirepas API-based communications from host systems’ CPUs or can host an entire embedded system as an independent Wirepas Mesh 2.4GHz end application unit. Together with Fujitsu’s 2.4GHz Mesh Unit, Mesh Sensor Unit, and supporting gateway and software, the Mesh Module forms the foundation of Fujitsu’s Wirepas Mesh technology-based IoT solution.

• Mesh USB Dongle

  The Fujitsu USB dongle enables end-users to bring Wirepas Mesh 2.4 GHz anchor or tag functionality to any equipment with a USB port in a simple, cost-effective way. It can also be used to add Wirepas Mesh Sink functionality to an existing Wi-Fi gateway that can then support both Wi-Fi and Wirepas gateways via dedicated software. Additionally, the USB dongle supports the anchor functionality on existing Wi-Fi gateway locations. Wi-Fi gateways are currently the most commonly available equipment in office applications. It is ideal to use a Wi-Fi gateway as a solid Wirepas low-latency communication router backbone and as an asset-tracking infrastructure.
