Fujitsu Components Consolidates Printers Offering
Dot matrix printers complete the portfolio
The move is part of Fujitsu’s overall strategy to restructure and streamline its IT products and services organisation. Printing solutions have hitherto been sold by a variety of Fujitsu companies: restructuring now enables Fujitsu to accommodate all printing solutions under “one roof”.
Until mid-January this year, Dot Matrix Printers were sold and supported by Fujitsu Technology, with POS printers and print mechanisms coming under the scope of Fujitsu Components. Fujitsu Components Europe now takes on the full printer portfolio, as Christoph Hasekamp, Marketing Manager printers explains. "By streamlining our presence, customers have one interface for the total printer line-up. Our main objective is to improve the support and enable a more transparent point of contact."
Why Dot Matrix Printers?
Dot Matrix Printers represent one of the longest-lived technologies of computer printing, dating back to the era when computers were first introduced in businesses around the world. No longer mainstream, they nevertheless meet the needs of specific markets today.
Where modern printers use methods such as inkjet, laser thermal direct and thermal transfer, only Impact print technology allows direct carbon copies of the printouts. Dot matrix printers are therefore the only solution where a direct copy is a mandatory requirement, for example, to print airline manifests, shipping documents, and bank transaction verification. Including dot matrix printers with Fujitsu Components Europe’s portfolio will enable the company to serve existing customers and markets where carbon copy functionality is required.
