Fujitsu Component Launches Bluetooth® 5 Wireless Modules

The new FWM7BLZ20B series feature lower power consumption than classic Bluetooth (BR/EDR), X2 increased communication speed, 255 bytes LE Advertising Extensions ^{(Note 1)}, and other expansions to Bluetooth 4. The series includes two models powered by Nordic Semiconductor's nRF52832: FWM7BLZ20B with Fujitsu Components' firmware and FWM7BLZ20B-109077 without embedded firmware.
The symbol rate and data rate of both products handles both 1Mbps and improved 2Mbps to facilitate communication speed with the other Bluetooth devices.

The Bluetooth 5 modules are suitable for IoT related devices and applications, where up-to-date, higher communication speed is demanded.

FWM7BLZ20B

FWM7BLZ20B module contains Fujitsu Component's embedded firmware. Fujitsu Component's unique data transmission profile supports X2 speed and LE Advertising Extensions both are fully integrated that provide new Bluetooth benefit with easy and worry-free application development. It also has "GATT Direct Access Function" ^{(Note 2)}, which enables direct access with other modules through GATT layer in the module by simple command via UART. With this function, central equipment can communicate with a maximum of 8 peripherals simultaneously. The function also enables it to easily communicate with other manufacturers’ Bluetooth modules.

FWM7BLZ20B-109077

FWM7BLZ20B-109077 is a "blank" module without Fujitsu Component's firmware. Users can develop their unique firmware including X2 speed and LE Advertising Extension using tools provided by Nordic Semiconductor ^{(Note 3)}. This module includes embedded NFC support function, it can read out NFC embedded devices via external antenna.
