Printing tickets simply and quickly using FCL Components mechanisms for public transportation

A FCL Components customer leading in the field of transportation payment solutions has integrated the FTP-639 and FTP-839 printers to support the printing functionality as part of the onboard ticketing machine operated by the bus driver. The ticketing machine is part of a complete and innovative system also covering payment solutions, back office system and various other field devices.

Public transportation tickets are rarely purchased at ticket offices or service desks and even though fare cards and subscriptions enable easy traveling, ticket purchases do need to be facilitated. These days ticket purchases are handled at kiosks and in-vehicle points of sales by example at the bus driver.

Onboard printing requirements

Onboard printing requires some specific functionalities and features FCL Components is able to full fill these through our well-engineered design. The FTP-639 and FTP-839 printers are designed with a metal frame able to act as a reinforcement of the end product design. The metal frame also incorporates other advantages such as heat sink and ESD discharge. The metal frame is able to quickly guide heat and electrostatics away from the printer. Even though the bus driver tries to drive as comfortably as possible for the passengers the printing mechanism still needs to endure shock and vibration, FCL Components has designed its printer to be able to do exactly that.
The printers features a print speed of 200mm/sec. thus reducing the waiting line as much as possible related to the printer. With the easy paper loading and drop-in paper system handling the printer in a bus, where time is of the essence, becomes easy, fast and stress free.
